The Daily Telegraph defends article on Bill Shorten's mother after backlash | Sky News AustraliaOpposition Leader Bill Shorten has fought back tears while condemning a Daily Telegraph article which accused the Labor leader of politicising his mother's life story to make a point about access to education. \n\nThe Daily Telegraph's state political editor, Anna Caldwell, has defended the article saying, 'This story in no way, shape or form was an attack on Bill Shorten's mother... she had an incredible career and in fact, this story is articulating that in detail.'\n\nSky News host Chris Kenny noted 'Bill Shorten is trying to make the life of his family sound less fulfilling than it actually turned out to be.' \n\nThis comes after the Opposition Leader's appearance on Q&A last night, where Mr Shorten described his mother as a teacher who always wanted to become a lawyer, but had to take a teaching scholarship to support her siblings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n One could just as easily say that about the other lot too.
