The man’s body was found on a small boat in the early hours of Sunday morning, while the woman’s body was recovered from the water of the popular lake, Italian media reports. The Carabinieri – Italian police – said two German holiday-makers were being investigated for alleged manslaughter and failure to provide assistance to the Italian couple.

Police located the tourists after people noticed their docked motorboat was damaged, the Italian daily said. Mr Garzarella, who was the owner of a boiler maintenance company, is understood to have owned the small vessel that was involved in the collision.
