Unions are calling for frontline workers to be prioritised for face masks after Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews advised Melbourne residents to wear them in public, warning of a rush on stocks in pharmacies.The Victorian government announced on Friday that it will review its policy on mask use in the workplace after healthcare workers raised safety concerns.
"They need to work out a system, otherwise everyone's going to rush to the shops and it will all be cleared out," Trades Hall secretary Luke Hilakari said. "Certainly, we want to see the citizens of Melbourne and Victoria comply with their state laws and our laws. Effectively, they just shouldn't be coming here."NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard says 77 swabs from community tests in the Balmain and Rozelle area have gone missing, and he is encouraging people who got tested to come back and get re-tested.
"I'm asking [them] to continue to work the enormous hours they've been working and thank them for the work they have done."NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard says the "troubling" second case was a man in his 20s who had tested positive in the Sutherland area after driving up from the Melbourne area with a caravan.
NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said the man had made the trip very quickly and had minimal contact on the way to Sydney.
