International travel caps will be lifted in a 'staged way' across states and territories after what Prime Minister Scott Morrison said was 'a very practical day' for national cabinet. Follow our live coverage:

A nationally consistent approach to contact tracing based on the success of NSW will be rolled out across Australia to prevent future COVID-19 outbreaks from spiralling out of control.

"That doesn't mean they need to be all on the same system, reproducing that effort would take considerable time, and unnecessary cost. Mr Morrison commended Victoria for its decision to upgrade its contact tracing system based on learnings from NSW. Mr Morrison said all states and territories must be prepared to quickly activate contact tracing in the case of an outbreak.
