Mr Tehan said the measures would last six months and priority would be given to parents who needed to be physically at work throughout the crisis.

Prime Minister Morrison said that the health advice on sending children to school or childcare had not changed.But he said because many parents had voluntarily pulled their children out throughout the crisis, it had made some centres unviable.
