Congress moves to restrict President Trump's war powers | Sky News Australia

The vote passed the Democratic-held House on Thursday 224 votes to 194 with three Republicans crossing the floor to vote with the resolution. Eight Democrats opposed it.

Democrats said they were worried about the conflict in Iran following the assassination of Qasem Soleimani last week, hoping the resolution would give Congress greater oversight over military action against Tehran. Though no legally binding, the measure dictates President Trump would have to stop any military action in or against Iran within 30 days if congressional approval is not secured.
