The Church of Scotland is suing a man for a share of a $3.6 million Viking treasure trove he discovered with a metal detector on church land in 2014. 9News

Laws pertaining to the discovery of treasure differ in Scotland from the rest of the UK. Payment is only required to be made to the finder north of the border, yet awards are split between finder and land owner elsewhere in Britain.

Reverend David Bartholomew, who belongs to the Church of Scotland and was present when the hoard was discovered, expressed sadness over the events."It is my understanding there was always an agreement the money would be shared with the Church. The treasure trove, known as the Galloway Hoard, is regarded as one of the richest and most significant finds of Viking objects ever found in the United Kingdom. Church trustees subsequently lodged legal action at the Court of Session in Edinburgh against Mr McLennan, claiming the church is entitled to an equal share of the proceeds.

Church’s sickening message to abused wifeWARNING: Sensitive content Sounds about right. Religious leaders seem to have closests full of dark secrets or themselves in the closet. Yeah well you should enter the Assyrian community. Tried giving a (very clearly) battered wife advice to a hotline at work once - as per my professional responsibility - and I was reprimanded for interfering in cultural sensitivities that could see her alienated or worse. Lovely. Doesn't say much for her church's support or her parents or her parents in law.

HatAlexander If I knew they didn’t just boot your child out straight away I’d probably pay my fees a bit slower 😂 Strange “story”. Sign a contract to pay someone for a service, you have to pay or incur a debt, right? HatAlexander :) I am thinking of delivering online private tutoring on a global scale harnessing the National Broadband Network. I might call it 'Guru Cool!' private tutoring. HatAlexander They are government funded, what is their bloody problem? A Catholic school in Melbourne received 200 million from Tax Payers & closed its doors.
