A Chinese company has been given until the end of November to remediate land it cleared at a cattle station in the Kimberley, following a blockade by Aboriginal native title holders.

"I take my hat off to the [government] department for actually following through and fulfilling its statutory mandate to ensure this land is put back they way it should be," Mr Bergmann said.

However, he said it was still unclear as to whether the decision meant the entire 120 hectares that had been cleared would be remediated. He also said he was disappointed that traditional owners had not been consulted over how the land should be rehabilitated. "Yakka Munga forms part of a land area that has been undisturbed for thousands of years," Mr Bergmann said.

Dont sell australian land to hostile communist countrys.

Shut down the cattle station until the land is fully rehabilitated.

This blatant disrespect of our laws by foreigners must stop. Start jailing them!

Now do the same to Gina Rinehart

Dont upset the Chinese. They will be your landlord and employer in the near future

kokolopa I doubt it possible to buy a parking spot in China....we need our head read selling our land to them....

We need to look after the land

The land we live off is their playground. Chinese investors are terraforming the landscape without governmental approval or supervision. The damage is done long before the law can intervene.

Look at those greed faces. All of them.

Disgraceful and pathetic penalty - the government better quickly look at foreign ownership laws, or the lack thereof, currently its a free for all - immoral ScottMorrisonMP

You have to understand that the Chinese government and their minions don't care about anyone else's rules/laws and just do what they like where they like when they like because that is how they operate in China and feel they have the right to do so in any country

Imagine Australians trying to buy land in China. Those people dont give a fuck, they just want to consume.

Why are we selling our land to foreigners in the first place

GREAT. NOW The Mining Companies can Undo The Damage they have done

Hand it over to the Indigenous rangers. They will know the land best, and rehab it better than anyone.

Both sides of the Chinese-Australian relationship will have to recognise the gulf between our cultures and learn to work with it. We forgive China a lot with their human rights abuses. We need to see more sensitivity to our norms.

Sadly that won’t happen, both the state and federal governments are to frighten to upset the China 😢😢😢

And the Chinese Ambassador dares to talk about respect.

Given factors like food security, water management and the like I don't think there should be any foreign ownership of farm land

Well, well the Chines have moved in and immediately ignored our rules regarding protection of our land and animals. A sign of times to come . This is just the start. Now have a representative in parliament to assist them.

Gladys and I feel Australia should be more open to such helpful ownership of Australia by noble foreign investment. LNP agrees with their Gladys- slim majority.

$500,000 mere fine? For fundamentally changing the functionality and performance of the area? Do they know the limits of the changes they can make? This is infuriatingly disproportional response.

They should forfeit the land and be fined.
