Trade Minister Birmo says it’s “frustrating and disappointing” that he hasn’t been able to hold official talks with his Chinese counterpart in more than a month.

Trade Minister Simon Birmingham says it’s “frustrating and disappointing” that he hasn’t been able to hold official talks with his Chinese counterpart in more than a month. Australia’s trade relationship with China has soured over the past few months as the world grapples with the novel coronavirus COVID-19. The worsening of trade relations comes as Australia was the first nation to call for an independent investigation into the origins of COVID-19.

He told the National Press Club on Wednesday the lack of dialogue represents a “missed opportunity.” "The best way to resolve and to work through differences is through dialogue, and Australia is ready, and willing, to have that mature, sensible dialogue that grown-ups have even when you have differences of opinion," he said.

Birmo ccp still pouting.

Birmo Haha I am so happy though

Birmo It's about time China started to grow up and behave like an adult not a spoilt brat

Birmo Maybe he, his back benchers, and his gov should reflect on their use of the public megaphone, instead of quiet diplomacy when adjusting policies affecting other nations in our region. Another example of adopting a US practice, megaphone diplomacy, to Australia's detriment.

Birmo they still refuse to speak to him?

Birmo CCP 🖕

Birmo This is an ideal opportunity to find other trade partners to expand into while China drags its heels. No use begging China. COVID has highlighted that we need a variety of trade partners as a matter of national security!!

Birmo Maybe the Chinese need to open their eyes a little (pardon the pun) and see that not all the world is their bit** :)

Birmo next level Rubik's cube

Birmo the communist party of China is not our friend, never have they been our friend and NEVER do we want them to be our friend
