A child has died after a fire at a public housing building in Melbourne this afternoon.
Victoria Police said the young child was pulled from the burning building in Fitzroy North and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.All other residents were evacuated safely and have been accounted for. Emergency services were called to the apartment block at the intersection of Clauscen and Nicholson streets about 12:30pm.Arson squad detectives will now investigate.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
