A dingo has bitten a child near a popular swimming spot on the Queensland island of K’gari.

The incident occurred at about 1pm on Wednesday at Eli Creek, one of the only safe spots to swim on the island.

“Rangers will make further inquiries with the child’s family to determine the circumstances that led to the incident,” the QPWS notice said.
