One of Australia's major supermarkets is looking to capitalise on a growing appetite for organic food with plans to reduce organic prices and increase market share.Australian Organic Limited valued the domestic organic industry in 2019 at $2.6 billion and described the sector as growing to record levels

Organic fresh produce sales in the US are around 7 per cent of total sales, in Germany around 13-15 per cent But in a bid to continue growth, Woolworths head of produce Paul Turner said the supermarket was aiming to close the checkout price gap between conventional and organic produce. Mr Turner said fresh produce organic sales could reach as much as 5 per cent of the market in Australia, it currently sits at 2 per cent, but growth was somewhat restricted by supply.
