She pleaded guilty to defrauding the charity she worked at out of tens of thousands of dollars. 9News

As reported on A Current Affair, Lizzie Millar previously pleaded guilty to a number of charges of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception in relation to her time as a volunteer with and as general manager of the Hope Centre, a charity based in NSW’s Illawarra region.

Millar was once admired and respected for her work at the charity that feeds the poor, although she was secretly fleecing tens of thousands of dollars from the Hope Centre over her two years working there. Jeff and Gally Dakers mortgaged their home to get the Hope Centre up and running but after the ordeal, they had to shut down the charity, leaving potentially thousands of people hungry in the region.“I've heard their stories, I’ve been there, I've wept with them, now what's happened to those people?”

In Wollongong Local Court today, Millar was sentenced to a 22-month intensive corrections order, and 400 hours of community service.
