The one-year-old's father and a national charity are calling for more research funding for neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that leaves many children with permanent side effects from treatment.

The Neuroblastoma Australia CEO says patients come "almost last" in the queue for research fundingFor about a month his condition mystified doctors, who suggested it could be due to allergies.

Logan was transported by ambulance to the Monash Children's Hospital in Melbourne, where he was diagnosed with the rare childhood cancer neuroblastoma. "When you have metastatic disease of any type of cancer, it's much, much more difficult to treat and cure it than if you just find a localised tumour and you can go and take it out.""All of them will be given very high dose chemotherapy, surgery, and sometimes radiation … sometimes even bone marrow transplantation. The treatment is quite brutal."
