Australia's best young writers are eligible to share a $10,000 pool of prize money afterBest Young Australian Novelists awards secured sponsorship for the first time.literary editor Susan Wyndham to showcase emerging writing talent.Thanks to a grant from the Copyright Agency's Cultural Fund, the winner for the next three years will receive $8000 and two runners-up will each pocket $1000.
The winner in 2020 will also for the first time be partnered with a former award winner who will provide mentoring.and a short extract from the winner's book will be published in theMaxine Beneba Clarke, one of the 2015 award recipients, said it was "pretty thrilling" to win and she believes the prizemoney will be invaluable for young novelists trying to forge their career.
"We are delighted to support this prize as it recognises new and emerging writers who will contribute to Australian storytelling that entertains, challenges and makes us reflect," he said. "But we also support it by working to uphold effective copyright laws that are so essential to ensuring the rights of writers are respected and that they can receive fair payment their work."
