The Welsh Rugby Union has removed the song from its Principality Stadium choirs’ playlist due to ‘problematic subject matter’

WRU facing recent allegations of ‘toxic’ culture and misogynyPhotograph: James Marsh/ShutterstockPhotograph: James Marsh/Shutterstockhas ordered the 1968 Sir Tom Jones hit Delilah to be removed from its Principality Stadium choirs’ song list on the eve of the 2023 Six Nations.

But with the WRU reeling from allegations of a “toxic” culture and misogyny the governing body has responded to claims that it promotes violence against women by banning it. The song includes the lyric: “She stood there laughing/I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more.”A Principality Stadium spokesperson said: “Delilah will not feature on the playlist for choirs for rugby internationals at Principality Stadium.

“The WRU condemns domestic violence of any kind. We have previously sought advice from subject matter experts on the issue of censoring the song and we are respectfully aware that it is problematic and upsetting to some supporters because of its subject matter.”

Energy bills require ‘downward pressure’ to protect families and businessesNew South Wales Energy Minister Matt Kean says energy bill increases are a “national problem” requiring a solution to put downward pressure on electricity bills. “This is a national problem, and it required a national solution, so obviously, we all want to see lower gas prices and lower energy prices across New South Wales and, indeed, across the country,” Mr Kean told Sky News Australia. “We want to do everything possible to make that happen – this is about protecting Australian energy users. “We’ve worked closely with the Commonwealth government, and in New South Wales, we’ve implemented their coal cap to ensure we put downward pressure on electricity bills.” Closing Liddell in a couple of months won't help your cause Matt. Blah blah blah. The State Governments are responsible for delivering safe, reliable and affordable energy to the people of the State.
