A new report is calling on Australian businesses to take the lead on mental health.

The Shared Value Project said profits and productivity are being hit by Australia’s mental health crisis and has called on the businesses to step up on the crisis.

The report said businesses addressing mental illness could help to improve employee attendance, efficiency and create a more thriving community. The Commissioner for the Royal Commission into Victoria’s mental health system said the prevalence of mental illness and its impact on Australia’s weakening economic growth rate calls for an urgent response from businesses.
