Locals are told to urgently flee as three fires spanning two states are threatening to merge into one massive blaze.

A river is the only thing stopping three major fires spanning two states merging into a terrifying 'mega-blaze' as locals are told to urgently flee.

Despite the threat, up to half of the residents living between the Upper Murray blaze, and fires burning nearby in NSW, had chosen to stay."They're stubborn and they don't want to move," she said. "They're defending their life and that's what they know." And, this morning there are 136 fires are still burning across NSW, with more than 69 uncontained, including a massive blaze south-west of Eden on the far South Coast, which has torn across more than 140,000 hectares.
