A bushfire burning in Perth's north-eastern suburbs has been downgraded from an emergency warning to watch and act, but residents are being advised to stay alert.
About 100 firefighters will spend Tuesday night actively patrolling the eastern side of the Avon River and the Shady Hills Estate to protect houses. A watch and act warning has been issued for people south of Smith Road in Bullsbrook including Shady Hills Estate, east of Great Northern Highway, north of Walyunga Road, west of O'Brien Road and the Avon River in Gidgegannup and north-western parts of Walyunga National Park in the City of Swan.
Residents are being urged to leave or get ready to actively defend, and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises those in Shady Hills Estate to seek alternative accommodation"due to unpredictable severe fire weather".
