Britain has reported its highest weekly COVID-19 case count since its ‘freedom day’, including 44,985 new cases on Saturday

showed there were 44,985 new cases on Saturday, down from 49,298 on Friday. Daily death figures were only available for England, and showed 135 fatalities within 28 days of a positive test.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson speaks to the media as he visits a COVID-19 vaccination centre at Little Venice Sports Centre, in London on Friday.“We see absolutely nothing to indicate that is on the cards at all,” he said on Friday.

Although Austria’s government has encouraged citizens to get vaccinated, the effort has slowed in recent months. About 65.4 per cent of the total population has received one dose of the vaccine, and 62.2 per cent are fully vaccinated. Only about one-third of Russia’s 146 million people have been vaccinated, frustrating officials and placing a strain on the country’s health-care system.Serbia is set to launch partial COVID-19 passes while Croatia and Slovenia reported high daily rates of infections, as virus continues to surge in the Balkan nations with low vaccination rates.

British are strong. They survived the black plague, etc

Because the vaccine doesn't prevent the spread. It prevents the majority from ending up in hospital. Oh and you're going to require boosters every few months instead of every year.

Yes, it could easily happen here.

Fauci paid to create covid-19

I guess we are starting to see the Freedom Day experiment results. How will Australia prevent a similar outcome eventually? Quicker booster shots? Better indoor mitigations, like masks, ventilation? Vaccination for younger kids?

Let’s get this done QLD. Praying for 90% so I don’t have to go through the trauma of PCR testing ever time I fly o/s, as I’m highly phobic of anything medical and it’s not a quick/straightforward thing for me. Ok tell me how dangerous is this Covid? How come when you get two vaccines, you can still get it & transmit it and you still need a booster shot maybe for ever! Why would anyone with a healthy immune system get a vaccine? You work for sociopaths, psychopaths and what do you think they will do when your job is done?

Johnson says fresh UK lockdown not on cards as COVID-19 cases riseAs advisers suggest that acting early with lighter measures to cut rising case numbers would reduce the need for tougher restrictions later, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says a new COVID-19 lockdown is not on the cards. Johnson also says vaccines don't stop transmission, so allowing vaccinated people to arrive from overseas without quarantining is just reckless idiocy. Especially given the Delta plus strain is 10% of UK cases, and we have zero in Australia. auspol No just a nice fresh variant, Delta+, caused by letting Delta run free in the community, giving time for mutations to develop, and more contagious than Delta. Thanks Boris. He’s doing elbow bumps so it’s all okay.
