The International Olympic Committee's Future Host Summer Commission has designated Brisbane as the "preferred candidate city" to host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games, a decision endorsed unanimously by the IOC's executive board.The IOC will now move discussions to a targeted dialogue followed by final negotiations with the city then elected at a future IOC session, likely within the next year.
Should the exclusive negotiations prove successful then Brisbane would become the third Australian city to host the Summer Games after Melbourne and Sydney . Other cities that had shown interest in the 2032 Games included Doha, Budapest, Istanbul, Jakarta, New Delhi and St Petersburg.
Maybe we will get Infastructure upgrades , big money for business and top sporting venues. But lots of people big drawback.

I thought the IOC had stopped awarding the games to new cities because the enormous costs of building the sites and was going just going to rotate it through cities that have hosted several times before? (i.e. Paris, LA, Tokyo etc).

I spent a total of 18 hours in Australia. All 18 in Brisbane. Lovely place.
I personally think they should wait until 2020(1) Olympics are over. Should something happen to them and they can't go on as planned (knock on wood) then Japan should be given the opportunity of hosting these and given Brisbane 2036.
