A "very dangerous" thunderstorm supercell has lashed large parts of Queensland, with residents copping the brunt of five-centimetre hail and 70km/h winds.
The powerful cell is approaching Rainbow Beach in the Gympie region, the Bureau of Meteorology has said.Severe thunderstorms have this afternoon lashed large parts of south east Queensland, with reports of 5cm hail and 70km/h winds the result of a "very dangerous" storm supercell. Weatherzone meteorologist Joel Pippard told 9News 72km/h gusts had been recorded at Wellcamp near Toowoomba.Further south, storms are forecast for the next few days.Storm clouds over Sydney Airport.
