The Bondi Bowling Club has been fined $10,000 for failure to comply with COVID-19 measures, as the Liquor & Gaming NSW identified the business as"the worst venue to date" in breaching COVID-19 rules.
"We are still on a cliff edge, but you wouldn’t know it if you went to Bondi Bowling Club on 29 August. The venue was operating as though the COVID safety measures were optional," said Liquor & Gaming Director of Compliance, Dimitri Argeres. "While we came across Bondi Bowling Club’s breaches during a routine visit, we also use information and feedback from the public along with other sources of intelligence to focus our inspections on venues posing a higher risk."It comes as NSW records five new COVID-19 cases from more than 30,000 tests in the 24 hours to 8pm on Friday, including four linked to the City Tattersalls Club gym cluster.
NSW Health has also issued health alerts for Kuleto's Cocktail Bar in Newtown on August 28, Bondi Platinum Fitness First on August 31 and Randwick Fitness First from August 30 to September 1 after they were visited by confirmed COVID-19 cases.Anyone at the Newtown bar between 6.30pm and 9.30pm on August 28 for at least one hour must immediately get tested and self-isolate for 14 days.

Has COVID-19 killed the garage band?Lengthy lockdowns have mostly put a stop, for now, to formation of new bands. But that doesn't have to mean the end of bands from garage-land. um, every breakout artist in the last 15 years has just been a 19 year old with a macbook. You’re being dramatic. Lockdown won’t last, and having some private time to work on your craft is always valuable. Some practice is within the construct of a band, duo or orchestra...most of it is just you, in your practice space with your instrument. Or from seeing live music that'll help them grow as musicians and performers and artists. The only solution has to be heavy state gov funding for venues, bands and artists in order to get going again. Our music is known all over the world, its important.
