Residents were told to be ready to leave at short notice and a temporary structural support was urgently installed on Thursday after building management noticed the cracks were widening. The premier on Sunday told reporters the government wants to "get to the root cause" and find out what has occurred."There was some speculation it could have been from things that happened in the near vicinity but we need to find out the cause before we know how to act," she said.
"It's a bit annoying to not really know what is going on and move at short notice but we'll deal with it," Mascot Towers tenant Jade told reporters on Saturday. Transport for NSW confirmed there was no impact on the airport rail line or Mascot train station, which sits underneath the complex. Engineers Australia said the situation was further evidence changes were needed in the building and construction sector.
bring back Home Owners Warranty insurance on high rise buildings
GladysB remember Picton Railway Station - the Commuters in the Southern Highlands travelling by diesel train to get to McArthur/ Campbelltown station ... the forgotten railway line ..
Genuine question. Were either buildings, or both, union sites? If non union sites fail they are quick to claim there non attendance was the issue but haven’t heard anything from them on these sites.
This is the result of unchecked population growth Gladys. These buildings are rush builds, so of course there are structural problems with them. Current population growth in NSW is environmentally unsustainable.
And the bacon is on the runway and ready to fly!
I’d love to see that GladysB - it won’t happen
Its called deregulation . The govt itself may be at the bottom of all these problems . The public cannot have confidence as these buildings are built by fly by night flim flam merchants and i include the govt in tthis assessdment
MSMWatchdog2013 berejiklian must be sacked for her greed and incompetence putting peoples lives at risk for killing safety programs as she is a leader she must be charged as she is included in everyone and the residents must be compensated to full amount
Sorry but you are so full of crap
With a sharp talking to why we have too much red tape....
MSMWatchdog2013 Including LNP politicians?
The fish rots from the head, GladysB Old Jewish proverb.
Its the whole housing industry and bank loans racket its finishing badly as we are seeing now housing collapse then bank runs . Run by morons and idiots of the lowest iq
Sure. Mr Nobody gets another flogging with the wet lettuce leaf. When did 'everyone' = 'nobody'?
MSMWatchdog2013 Including the LNP for privatising certifications.
Another reason not to buy an apartment.
When approvals are given by private companies/contractors- who depend on maintaining customers- such shoddy work will continue.
MSMWatchdog2013 Pretty sure I read where someone said with these crappy apartments structural problems will show up after about 10 years.
Is that slang for Labor?
I wouldn’t buy property in Sydney.....🤪
How is privatisation and deregulation working out for you, Premier? Less political risks?
MSMWatchdog2013 Yeah yeah the lips are moving all that flows is bs.
MSMWatchdog2013 'Everyone'
Another statement by our illustrious politicians. All, words and no action. Gutter types with their so-called promises. Incompetent administration and low IQ public servants.
Everyone but the corrupt.
Everyone, Gladys? Starting with whom?
virgotweet Everything in Berejiklian’s NSW is dodgy & second-rate Buildings, Darling Harbour rebuild,Barangaroo,Metro, Light-rail, stadiums Broken, poorly designed, shoddy
Didn’t the building industry laugh when the government introduced private certifiers. Let’s not even mention that building engineers don’t need the be certified.
except her !
Does the buck stop with the NSW Premier ? just asking
AAA Aardvark builders will be deregistered
What about the stupid government who privatised building work inspections which has been an obvious disaster? After talking to many people in and around the building game they are saying there will be more problems well into the future. Lesson - apartment buyers be very careful.
Surely accountability is long gone with the building that was approved by who?
Mr Nobody looks favourite to carry the can. Builders and developers long gone, building inspectors same. Insurance companies will have exemptions they can turn to, leaving the owners...
Will that include State Govt and Local Government, or just the fat cat developers and builders while owners and tenants are left to pay the price?
Why not you replacing the bosses of government Authorities agencies? like WorkSafe, clearly seemed to be very biased to dodgy lawless builders not enforcing OH&S and others Construction Regulators, why you Liberals Brutal injustice Construction W. Dog,criminal murders have m/right
Bullshit just manipulative deceive talk, apart from Unions/Workers,with toughest law accountability a Royal Commission Legislation to protecting Builders breaching OH&S everyday,WorkSafe not police most important enforcing Builders to comply. NSW Premier promot Illegal scaffold
It will never happen as you will find that this all happened because Government stopped taking responsibility for what their job is / was.
Like she did for the OpalTower What a joke
Yeah sure!
This is the result that her government wants isn’t ? its called deregulation
Like who. Developers, planners, govt. beaurocracy, local concil.
You would be crazy to buy a newly built apartment in Sydney.
Not so sure about people being held to account ? Has not happened for 20 years !
'Remember how she held everyone to account?' 'Nah I think she just said that. Did she actually do anything?' 'Probably, why would you say that and then do nothing?' 'Yeah fair point' - NSW
Shoddy works from the ground to the top. There’s going to be a long list of ppl !
Pfffft.....booooooolshiiiiiit
it’s everyone’s fault?
And what has been the wash up on that other building?
'Everyone' . . . . . except ministers
