The fact Foreign Minister Marise Payne’s recent speech regarding China will have "a positive impact globally" is really "the reason Beijing will hate it most," according to the Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Michael Shoebridge. Foreign Minister Marise Payne has accused Beijing of spreading disinformation and called for the reform of global bodies including the World Health Organisation in her first major speech on the post-COVID climate.

"At the heart of successful international cooperation is the concept each country shares rather than yields a portion of its sovereign decision making," Ms Payne said. In response to the speech within the communist party, "I think they will react at the top level with outrage," Mr Shoebridge told Sky News host Peter Gleeson. He said those within the regime would view this as "just an anti-China bias and Australia's part of a US lead cabal".

MarisePayne Well done Marise.👏👏

MarisePayne The arrogant CCP and loudmouthed Global Times will bow to little, courageous Australia.

MarisePayne Good! It’s time Australia protected it’s sovereignty from a colonizing bully!

MarisePayne It's fantastic when politicians (who all seem to be either Australian, or Trump) call out the CCP, and don't hide this issue from the public. If only we could get some of this in Europe. The disinformation of the Chinese at the Indian border is to be expected. IPAC BLM

Foreign Minister accuses Beijing of spreading disinformation and calls for WHO for reform | Sky News AustraliaForeign Minister Marise Payne has accused Beijing of spreading disinformation and called for the reform of global bodies including the World Health Organisation in her first major speech on the post-COVID climate.\n\n'At the heart of successful international cooperation is the concept each country shares rather than yields a portion of its sovereign decision making,' Ms Payne said. \n\nThe Foreign Minister said governments needed to be able to rely on government bodies during a pandemic, taking a swipe at WHO over claims it was beholden to China.\n\n'Disinformation during a pandemic will cost lives,' she said. \n\nMs Payne also took the opportunity to criticise China for warning students and tourists to avoid Australia due to 'racism and coronavirus' concerns. \n\n'The disinformation we have seen contributes to a climate of fear and division when at a time like this what we need is cooperation and understanding,' she said. \n\nImage: AP \n MarisePayne A politician talking sense? I'm going to make a note. I often wonder whether politicians actually look at Twitter, since the public always seem to be 2 steps ahead of our representatives. The fact the WHO and the UN still haven't been investigated is crazy.
