Behrouz said the new Labor government had 'shown off' in the media, but had not fundamentally changed anything for asylum seekers.

The writer pointed to a $420 million to manage Nauru, issued to a US company accused of human rights abuses, as an avenue for the commission to pursue.

Mr Boochani said, while the new government had "shown off" in the media, nothing had fundamentally changed for asylum seekers in Australia since it took office.Source:Ms Daniel, one of a number of crossbench MPs flanking the writer, described the government's approach to asylum seekers as "very bitsy, very slow".

Mr Boochani also urged Labor to back a Greens bill which would offer around 150 people still in Nauru and PNG an immediate evacuation.

Thats what they do best. Talk the talk but they dont walk the walk

Do you tell your own people that this man is a Separatist in his own country and wants to divide a country and rule? Why do you promote people like him? These people are like cancer. He will not stop till the time he destroys your country your ideals. Be careful!

The boats have stopped along with deaths at sea.

Well duh , its a big to do about nothing at all ....... how quaintly unsurprising :-)

Politicians are all the same my friend, the shit, different smell.

Nothing has happened about this either. Albo is full of it.

Any chance of this illegal invader just shutting up & going back to his own country & family ? Do Australian’s a massive favour 😡

You might have to hound the far left to get what you want.

You can always go home or come in legally 💁🏻‍♀️

How long did it take him to work that out? He’s not exactly a MENSA candidate, is he?

That is not going to happen, both major parties are on the same page on this issue.

If he's not satisfied scamming the Australian people, he can pack up his ball and toddle off somewhere else, like the first safe harbour, as he was supposed to! scam

I thought this guy wasn't to stay here indefinitely? it's not illegal to seek asylum but nor is it illegal for a country to refuse a person. Maybe his attitude has something to do with why he was rejected for so long. Just saying.

He is right. ALP need to get people off Narau and use the money for other more important things

Peter Dutton and the Liberal Party ‘can’t afford’ to oppose the VoiceSky News host Chris Kenny says in his view, Opposition leader Peter Dutton and the Liberal Party can’t afford to oppose the Voice. Mr Kenny’s remarks come after a Newspoll revealed that a majority of Australians support an Indigenous Voice to Parliament. The poll conducted for The Australian shows 56 per cent of those surveyed were in favour of changing the constitution while 37 per cent were against the proposal, which Mr Kenny said showed there’s plenty of “public goodwill”. “The sobering thing for Peter Dutton and the Liberals is that if they were to oppose it, and it got up, they’d be instantly finished,” he said. “This debate is a long way from over, for the Liberals and for the nation.” Oh yes they can and hopefully will. The constitution is a rule book for governing. It serves all Australians equally. Singling out any group, no matter how well meaning, is repugnant. We have the same voice to parliament… one vote, one value. With the details hidden until after the vote, you’d be nuts to vote yes.

Dutton pushes government to endorse single Voice model as he seeks bipartisanshipLiberal leader Peter Dutton says he wants to find common ground on the Voice to Parliament, but says the government should endorse a particular model to help people decide whether to support it in a referendum. I remember the republic constitutional convention and the aftermath of that. Proposing a specific model for choosing an Australian President ended with people who supported a republic voting no because they didn’t like the model. Same will come of Dutton’s suggestion. Dutton is irrelevant He's doing exactly the opposite. His view of bi-partisanship is for it to be his way or the highway. VoteYes

PM needs to appear ‘less tricky’ on issue of Voice: DuttonOpposition leader Peter Dutton says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese “needs to look less tricky and more informative” for Australians to make their minds up about the Voice to Parliament. “There are two bills as you know,” Mr Dutton said at a media conference on Tuesday. “The bill before us at the moment is in relation to a number of important issues and that is the one we are concentrating on at the moment. “We’ll have a discussion in our party room and make an announcement after that.” No sense of irony it appears. Ha, Dutton😂

Albanese and Dutton rally party members as Parliament returnsThe Prime Minister and Opposition Leader have addressed their respective party rooms with Parliament returning for the first sitting week of the year. Here's what they each had to say. I'm a widowed single male. Obviously, the paid DV leave doesn't help me. My scripts have slightly increased, so I have no help there. 8 months of this government, and I'm worse of. I'm still positive and hoping it's my turn to get some help in May. 🤔 All I’ve heard from AlboMP and JEChalmers is that “We know all Australians are doing it tough” Yet they haven’t addressed cost of living relief for ALL AUSTRALIANS. Every adult Aust either own a home, rent or are homeless. Fix the problems NOW not in 6 months or longer
