So, the mother-of-one flew to Ukraine, ignoring the federal government's warning not to travel to the country. Leaving her concerned husband and a four-year-old son at home, Ms Joysdottir said she wouldn't have been able to live with herself if she didn't act. Through the Ukraine embassy, Ms Joysdottir has signed up to the so-called foreign legion — the result of a call to arms from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"All friends of Ukraine who want to join the defence, come and we will give you arms," Mr Zelenskyy said last month.

It is stupid & it’s completely irresponsible of her to abandon her child, perhaps forever, though her decision may well be described as brave. The most likely explanation, however, is that she hasn’t a clue what she’s really in for & that this is an act of total foolhardiness.
