Controversial union boss, John Sekta, has given up on his Labor Party membership - and taken a venomous parting shot at Anthony Albanese. The latest: 📸: AAP

Embattled union boss John Setka has withdrawn his legal challenge against the Labor Party's decision to expel him.

Back at the end of August, Victoria's Supreme Court denied Mr Setka's request for an injunction to stop the expulsion."Today John Setka has withdrawn his appeal to that decision, and John Setka has now been removed as a member of the Australian Labor Party," Mr Albanese said. “John Setka does not belong in our party because of the views that he holds,” Mr Albanese said at the time.

Mr Setka denied the charge that he had disparaged Ms Batty, and other union leaders who were present at the meeting backed him up. But his contentious history in the union movement stretched back years, and Mr Albanese was determined to see him expelled."My decision to quit the Australian Labor Party after 15 has everything to do with Anthony Albanese," Mr Setka said in a statement.

Australians have a dirty little secretWhen it comes to our national mythology, it seems Australians have a case of mistaken identity. I didn’t go near that koala, don’t believe a thing he says. Analysis? Pfft. If the survey options are listed fully the bulk of the story is simply dribbly padding. There was no option about questioning authority. Indeed the represented context is wrong. So to claim the survey is telling of national character is spurious. Do better ABC. theirABC
