'There were a small number of senior people who put in an inordinate amount of work and they did receive a reward,' auspost boss Christine Holgate told the committee. 'They were a Cartier watch of a value of $3000 each.' auspol auspost

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them any time.Australia Post boss Christine Holgate will be forced to stand aside after the federal government ordered an investigation into the purchase of $12,000 worth of luxury watches for senior employees.

He said the investigation would extend to the conduct of the Australia Post board and their governance, as well as the actions of management and senior executives."That report will come back to me and members of my cabinet if, Mr Speaker, there are issues to be addressed with board members, then they will be addressed then," Mr Morrison said during question time.

Christine Holgate defended the decision to buy four Cartier watches for employees as a reward for brokering a deal with Australian banks.Asked by Labor Senator Kimberley Kitching what the reward was, Ms Holgate said: "They were a Cartier watch of a value of $3000 each". "I cannot [tell you], because I haven't had that question today. Australia Post has $7.4 billion worth of expenses. We look after those expenses and take great care of those expenses," Mr Boys said at the hearing.

auspost If she had paid the bonuses in cash, we wouldn't be here today

auspost LockHerUp

auspost and she was wearing an expensive serpent Bulgari watch during the hearing... that’s a lot of stamps

auspost This a complete joke- she gets paid $2.3 million to do what? Buy expensive watches on AP accounts

auspost The real Question : Why does a Govt organisation need to pay bonuses to employees when AUSPOST is a protected MONOPOLY providing postal services, with no competitors?

auspost More bad timing by aus Post 🤦‍♂️

auspost auspost & startrack are a fkn disgrace...!! Sack hard working ppl, cut costs & deliver a sub par service... all started by that flog afahour

auspost And there are many male and female posties out there working like mad in all weathers without even a thank you in their pay packets. This is the most despicable excuse ever, sack her now.

auspost Annnnnnd posties, rain, hail or shine what did you give them.....Oh! That’s right they only did what they where paid to do,scarg needs to be moved on......

auspost Morrison is a wanker. Sack the chair or is that a mate?

auspost $12,000 can buy tonnes of foods for many poor people during this difficult pandemic time.

auspost If it's a public company, it's shareholder's money If it's a public sector business, it's taxpayer's money If it's not part of a renumeration package, then it's a gift If they want to give out elaborate gifts, then they should use their own money.

auspost A gift from public funds? No FBT tax involved!

auspost Scott Morrison has shown himself as a small minded person who doesn’t understand business. Probably listened to his wife on this occasion.

auspost $3000 watches enough to be stood down but ridiculous payments for land are still okay for now 😝

auspost Any employment opportunity? 🤣

auspost Another major fuckwit-and it's a girl too!

auspost What’s the fuss.... relatively small bonus .... if it was cash , no one would blink an eye

auspost I thought that is why the senior executives are on bonus schemes. Not a good look. Find it ironic though that she has to stand aside while an investigation is conducted whilst the VIC government is not subject to the same treatment. Different strokes for different folks.

auspost WHERES MY PARCEL CHRISTINE?

auspost The workers got nothing

auspost The weirdest bit is that a $3000 Cartier watch must be the shittiest watch they make

auspost So highly paid people that do their job deserve an expensive reward as well? On the taxpayers dollar?....

auspost pigs at the trough

auspost Disgusting. Regular staff asked to do more for zip.

auspost Pub test .......yeah, nah .....

auspost Oh yes Christine Holgate Rest of the country just rocks up at their workplaces and head for a nap You can also have some well deserved rest now that you are stood down auspost

auspost Who on earth would want a watch (any brand) in 2020? Apple Watch maybe.

auspost And presumably the staff she asked to work overtime for free only did an ordinate amount of work

auspost That $3K would push my annual wage up to a bit closer to nowhere near the annual national average wage. Passing out Cartier watches to obscenely well paid auspost fat cats is the new LiberalAus corruption policy.

auspost Don't have a problem with private or publicly listed companies doing this. Profitable government businesses I'm ok with too so long as the employees are happy.

auspost HA and what about the inordinate amount of work our posties put in ... going to work every day in a pandemic .. with record mail and parcel volumes. This makes me so sick

auspost Taxable in the hands of recipient? Declared?

auspost Hope you paid FBT on them Christine!!!!!
