Australia Post chief executive Christine Holgate defended the decision to buy four Cartier watches for employees as a reward for brokering a deal with Australian banks at a Senate estimates hearing on Thursday."There were a small number of senior people who put in an inordinate amount of work and they did receive a reward from the chair, myself, and on behalf of the board," Ms Holgate told the committee.

Australia Post's executive general manager for business, government and international Gary Starr, was one of the senior employees to rewarded with the gift.

LisaVisentin This is so disgusting

LisaVisentin Aust. Post - world's first class equipment, second-class management, third-world class efficiency - CEOs don't deserve anything for the jobs they're expected to do. If not the union behind A.P., well, the earlier privatized it, the quicker it turns profitable for Aust taxpayers.

LisaVisentin Was there a Cartier watch for whoever secured the bargain for a $3 million piece of dirt at Badgerys Creek and paid $30 million? Confected outrage

LisaVisentin Corruption.

LisaVisentin Hope they don’t get.... lost in the mail

LisaVisentin But workers doing the actual heavy lifting get fun sized chocolate bars.

LisaVisentin ScottMorrisonMP will you follow the example and step aside after the countless rorts the Liberal party had been caught in this year alone?

LisaVisentin She stands aside for $12k. Dan has lost people $billions and got a pay rise of $42k

LisaVisentin I’m confused. So this CEO stands aside for this 12k transgression when this pales into insignificance compared to the other rorts that have been happening. 30m airport, sports rorts, etc etc

LisaVisentin Meanwhile... NSW MPs are driving around in Mercedes & nobody says a word.

LisaVisentin And forget about complaining to the Postal Ombudsman as even those they know of poor customer service, slow or no delivery, customers being blamed etc they side with auspost.

LisaVisentin Let me guess the watches wasn't delivered by auspost as they wouldn't have got them as being lost in the mail or they would be still waiting?

LisaVisentin Out of touch much?

LisaVisentin Meanwhile ... ICAC

LisaVisentin Fk who cares about this.

LisaVisentin I don't really see what the issue is - executives receive bonuses to assist in incentivising high quality work - as the CEO pointed out, Australia Post is a commercial enterprise that doesn't actually receive any taxpayer funding...what are people getting so upset about?

LisaVisentin Wow. Its not as if they sold an iconic and historically significant site to a chinese conglomerate for about a third of its value. Oh hang on they did that too

LisaVisentin No ceo should get.more then 500,000 a year. Nor anyone else. Its the labours that do all the work. Ceo just delegate. Sooner or later there will be civil war over the gal between rich and poor. Its a bigger problem then the first people but nothing is done about it.

LisaVisentin lockthemup federal ICAC

LisaVisentin An absolute joke

LisaVisentin What gets me is that this person is the CEO, yet doesn't know that AusPost is a 'government business enterprise'. Who the hell appointed her to this extremely cushy job? niceworkifyoucangetit.

LisaVisentin You would think with all these high quality watches that Australia Post would be more on time ..

LisaVisentin Must of been a profitable agreement to get a Bonus like this ,good luck to them and

LisaVisentin Morrison using this as a distraction from the government’s refusal for an ICAC. Throw another woman under the bus.

LisaVisentin She is wrong to say Australia Post is a “commercial organisation”. It isn’t. CEO doesn’t know the type of business she runs!!! 🔴🔴🔴🔴

suthernx LisaVisentin does anyone really have issue with staff actually earning a little bonus ? this isn't like the graft n corruption we hear about daily from Parliament n the cronies is it ?

LisaVisentin Why is this news? A $3,000 bonus is on the low end for white collar bonuses even for junior staff.

LisaVisentin So there are not only dubious males. There are few Snow Whites though some would even have it that all women are clones of Snow White.

LisaVisentin Dom_Perrottet has offered her a senior job at icare ..or maybe in his office too....

GailCoastie LisaVisentin What is this thing with conservative plonkers and watches? Rolexes ('we thought they wuz fake'), now Cartier. A high-end watch these days is like wearing a goldplated sundial on your wrist. The lowliest smart phone is far more functional. AustraliaPost auspol

LisaVisentin istandwithHolgate

LisaVisentin Cartier is getting publicity that advertisers can only dream about

LisaVisentin And yet postal service reduced to once every two days metro and I believe less in Regional areas? Rather be paying the posties!

LisaVisentin I’ve bet those Cartiers were delivered on time ! Geddit?

LisaVisentin While everyone is focusing on the Cartier watch, no one would be looking at the Leppington Triangle.

LisaVisentin Timing is everything...

LisaVisentin Meantime nothing to see her claims premier who knew nothing of rotting and sale of land at 10X its value and still not minister goes. See a little bit hypercritical

LisaVisentin She stands aside for $12k. Dan has lost people $billions and got a pay rise of $42k

LisaVisentin That’s totally laughable imagine being rewarded for doing your job and your boss is so dumb that she actually thinks her staff have delivered against a BANK. The bankers must be rolling on the floor with laughter! cartier Austpost

LisaVisentin

LisaVisentin Why bother, quartz pos at $3k. Lol

LisaVisentin This is worthy of a few questions of the responsible Minister.

LisaVisentin Must have got a good deal. Cheapest Cartier watch is $4000.

LisaVisentin Don’t worry about us workers at the end of the line trying to implicate this absolutely ridiculous Alternate Delivery Mode. Busting a gut to watch these executives enjoy their new watches. Come down to the trenches. fed up posties

LisaVisentin That job is hell, she should have just played it safe and give a $50 gift card.

LisaVisentin Don’t they have discretionary funds for bonuses or gifts?

LisaVisentin How is this even a story. Imagine if the were paid a bonus of $3K instead of given a nice watch. Its not a large bonus really.

LisaVisentin As long as they aren't doing anything useful about insect extinction, acidic oceans, species loss, over-clearing of land, affordable housing or lack of local manufacturing they might as well raise hell about this

LisaVisentin Maybe she can say she was in a not very serious relationship with them and that her judgment was clouded.

elliemail LisaVisentin Join the corruption dots and you'll soon see a familiar face emerging. ScottyFromMarketing

LisaVisentin Fortunately they have been posted from the ebay seller and have not yet arrived.

LisaVisentin 🙄

LisaVisentin I don't remember my hardworking local postie flashing a new watch.

LisaVisentin Ahhhhhh capitalism. Wonderful. I'm heading off to CEO school right now. If I can just get a famous father or private school tie to help me on my way.

jurylady5 LisaVisentin I thought Cartier watches were more than that..

LisaVisentin Sack em thats our money you grub

LisaVisentin If it's money related to bonuses then what's the problem If its money that is budgeted for salaries and staff, then I can understand the outrage, but if it ain't then it just sounds salty Also Cartier's for $3K are an absolute bargain!! Might have to go shopping myself ☺️

LisaVisentin Such a disgrace

LisaVisentin Don’t they already get paid for doing their job? auspost

LisaVisentin And our mail has been cut back to every second ( business) day! Disgraceful

LisaVisentin That's what your salary is for.

LisaVisentin Insane

LisaVisentin Firstly how about concerning with actually getting the people’s mail and packages to them and hell even on time!!!!! Secondly why be doing that why reward that. Pending on which bank some of them are corrupt and linked to very bad people across the world!!!!! FOOK OFF POST OFFICE

LisaVisentin Can they just reward them with cash instead of useless watches.......

LisaVisentin Christine Holgate is very unimpressive. How does she land these big gigs ?

LisaVisentin Can't they just reward the senior employees with cash instead of useless watches.......

LisaVisentin Pity they lost the birthday cards I sent this year to two family members. Specially selected cards I bought out of my pension from the NSW Art Gallery, lost between two Sydney suburbs.

LisaVisentin Despicable

LisaVisentin Who cares? Also those are cheap Cartier watches, most cost $10k+!

LisaVisentin Giving items as a bonus instead of monetary compensation is a lose lose. Just give them the cash next time.

LisaVisentin This is what happens to big business when they go unchecked. Heads in the trough.

LisaVisentin PaulFletcherMP please comment on this

LisaVisentin In other words for doing their job

LisaVisentin Sack the board, sack the CEO grubs

LisaVisentin 😂 Remember when female senior management and Board representation was supposed to bring a change to corporate greed culture? Greedy narcissists are just that - male or female. Whoever approved that ought to be sacked immediately.

LisaVisentin Must be the cheapest model from Carrier ...

BK6785 LisaVisentin And yet I wait 3 weeks for small parcels from Sydney to Melbourne 🙄🙄

LisaVisentin How many Aussies lost their jobs for these Judas-like creatures

LisaVisentin Lord! 🙄

LisaVisentin and they still can’t deliver a bloody parcel on time or to the correct address most of the time and are reducing the letter service which my business depends on. And let’s not mention the increasing cost of sending, looks like we’re paying for those watches.

LisaVisentin Who wears watches?

LisaVisentin Were these watches purchased on her corp credit card where she spent around $300K?

LisaVisentin How about australiapost concentrate on delivering Post, within a reasonable time frame. This gift giving and backslapping needs to be reigned in and stopped.

LisaVisentin Is this the same auspost that put the price a stamp up and reduce my letter delivery to 2 days a week? Did someone get a watch for the cost savings

LisaVisentin Omfg she use to run dodgy Vitamin company Blackmores Say no more

LisaVisentin It's a cheap cartier for 3k

LisaVisentin Why Cartier ? Bit ordinary , no Omegas or Breitlings available ?

LisaVisentin Do Cartier even sell watches that cheap...more likely $12k a watch, not 4 $3k!!

LisaVisentin Nice for some. Most of us just get paid wages FOR DOING OUR JOBS!!!

LisaVisentin Does Australia Post hire directly from the Tony Soprano school of management?

LisaVisentin

LisaVisentin Disgudting

LisaVisentin this comes after MrKRudd mate fleecing the place

LisaVisentin I bet whole teams under those people busted a gut. Bonuses like that seem to me just taking credit for others work and should have been refused on principle. Bad managers ?

LisaVisentin And then left a card in their letterboxes so they have to collect them from the post office.

LisaVisentin After getting parcels weekly I recently waited 4 weeks for a baglog of three orders to arrive.

LisaVisentin Australia post is so shit now. Items taking 10 days within Australia is just normal.

LisaVisentin Women in charge, sell shares quickly.

LisaVisentin Just taking the piss now aren’t they.

LisaVisentin Did they pay FBT

LisaVisentin I think those employees probably could have afforded to buy their own watch.

LisaVisentin you forgot to calculate the Fringe Benefit Tax paid by Aust Post

LisaVisentin The weird controversy gift that keeps on giving, our Aus Post is. So they all think they are characters on that show Billions ?

LisaVisentin She has to go. Got the job after selling fairy dust to the Chinese
