Fresh off the back of her maiden speech to parliament, newly-minted Nationals senator Perin Davey has told AM Agenda ditching the Murray Darling Basin plan is “the worst thing we can do”. The Nationals senator, who is married to an irrigation farmer, admits she has a “vested interest” in water policy.

“We are in the middle of a critical drought and making policy on the run is the worst thing that we could do,” she said. “We need to get the Basin plan in place, and we need to make sure we can do that without taking any more water from our farmers and our communities. “We can do that if we get all the settings right.”

'We need to expose the whole family court system' | Sky News AustraliaOne Nation Leader Pauline Hanson says Australians need to “put the hate behind us” following the government’s decision to launch an inquiry into the family law system.\n\nThe inquiry will examine issues including the cost of the court process and claims of false evidence being used against former partners.\n\nMs Hanson told Sky News the inquiry is “not about self interest groups, but looking to help mums, dads, grandparents, extended families and most of all children out there who are denied to see their parent”. \n\n“If you feel what is just and lawful in this country then you should be supporting the family court inquiry,” she said.\n\n“To anyone who says this is going to create more deaths in this country then shame on you.\n\n“Every state is different with domestic violence orders, we need to expose the whole court system for what it is, whether it’s the lawyers, the judges or child protection.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia That’s ironic coming from a parliamentarian who in the past publicly and proudly made degrading statements about anyone darker than her own colour.
