Australia has announced a new citizenship test. Here's how it will work

Australia’s citizenship test is getting its first update in more than a decade, with a focus on Australian values.

“We are asking those who apply for citizenship to understand our values more deeply before they make the ultimate commitment to our nation.”The updated citizenship test will comprise of 20 multiple choice questions, including five new questions on Australian values. The applicant will be required to correctly answer all five of the questions on values, with a mark of at least 75 per cent overall, to pass the test.

The uproar in this thread is amusing considering whether any if at all will choose to live anywhere else permanently without the safety net of Australian citizenship?

I thought they are not giving citizenships any more, people are on perminent visas for more then 8 years with thier citizenship applications in process.

Basically a migrant must speak, read and write basic English. That is not much to ask, it can be learn in just a few months for most even the elderly. Language is a fundamental security issue, imagine a non English speaking person in the middle of an evacuation auspol
