Australian shares are expected to jump in early trade on renewed optimism that the US and China might reach a partial trade deal — despite conflicting reports.

By 7:45am , ASX futures were up 41 points or 0.6 per cent.AUD: 67.24 US cents, 55.06 British pence, 61.27 euro cents, 72.26 Japanese yen, $NZ1.07Europe: FTSE 100 +0.3pc at 7,167, DAX +1pc at 12,094, CAC +0.8pc at 5,499, Euro Stoxx 50 +0.8pc at 3,459

"You don't want to ignore headlines," said Michael Lorizio, senior fixed income trader at Manulife Investment Management. The excitement of Wall Street investors reached fever pitch after Bloomberg reported that Beijing was open to making a"small" deal and buying more US farming products ahead of its high-level trade talks with the Trump administration in Washington this week.

That was particularly the case given Beijing is not willing to concede major sticking points including the protection of intellectual property and a pullback in government subsidies for state firms.

It has become ‘bad for business’ to criticise China | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Andrew Bolt says it has become a “pathetic” trend among companies and governments alike, primarily in the West, to not criticise China because it has become “bad for business”. \n\nMr Bolt said the 'West' is “part of the problem”, and has become “too weak, too dozy and too greedy to stand up to this fast-growing menace”.\n\n“The dictator in Beijing must be laughing….as President Xi Jinping crushes all dissent and flexes China's power,” he said. \n\nMr Bolt was critical towards the Australian government for not responding by providing “the kind of armed forces we need… as the defence minister admits that China and technology are not waiting for Australia”.\n\nImage: Getty I guess FauxMo is not anti globalism like he'd like his followers to believe. Andrew himself is at times pathetic,,he should be on whinging radio,,just as bad for doing nothing!

‘No country has done more with emissions reduction policy than us’ | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny has taken a swipe at ex-Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, dismissing his “sneering” on the Morrison government’s climate policy as something you would expect from “the left side of politics”. \n\n“Turnbull mocks these people [the Conservative Party] suggesting they don't know Edmund Burke from Tony Burke, this is the sneering we expect from the left side of politics, you know, our opponents aren't as smart as us,” Mr Kenny said.\n\n“Turnbull says their actions have thwarted climate and energy policy, leading to higher prices and higher emissions.”\n\nMr Kenny then rounded on the former PM, pointing out that he lost his leadership of the Liberal Party twice over climate change policy, adding that “there is not a country on the planet that has done more on emissions reduction policy at greater cost to its constituents and its economy.\n\n“There just isn't. The activists and leftists are yet to counter or refute that critical point.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia Nobody with an IQ over 3 gives a flying fruitloop what Kenny thinks or says.
