NSW Environment Protection Authority said an Aldi supermarket, Catholic school, kids' sports centre and public pathway near a light rail station are among the new infected locations.
Three other sites, which are not publicly accessible, returned positive results but were not identified by the EPA for privacy reasons.About 700 students will be relocated from a public school in Sydney's south-west after asbestos was found in mulch on campus. The students will be moved from Liverpool West Public School to Gulyangarri Public School for at least a month while clean-up is underway.
The Aldi supermarket in Cobbitty, around 45km south-west of Sydney, is currently closed but will be open once the affected area is isolated. Riverstone Sports Centre, a non-profit complex which runs sports and holiday programs for kids including soccer and badminton, is regularly closed on Mondays.Illustrating the wide geographical spread of affected sites, a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians, near the Telopea light rail station in Sydney's north-west, also tested positive.By 6pm yesterday, 683 tests had returned negative results.
Over the weekend, Fire and Rescue NSW crews inspected more than 120 sites identified by the EPA, with more than 70 completed yesterday.so far, with Domremy College joining Allambie Heights Public School, Liverpool West Public School, Penrith Christian School and St Luke's Catholic College.
