Labelled the 'sex change athlete' in the 1990s, Ricki Coughlan was celebrated on magazine covers and TV talk shows when Australia found out she was transgender. It's a far cry from the treatment some of her peers get today.

Ricki's first introduction into the sport and exercise world came after she transitioned in her early 20s.

"I thought maybe some people might think it wasn't good, but I didn't think it would become the affair that it did." But there was still a desire from the media and the sporting world to uncover her identity — so she decided to tell her story publicly."If you were transgender, my understanding was that you would just melt into society and never be seen or heard of again and you would just get on with your life.

Do trans and non-binary get along?

Stop calling it a she

Trans women are not cis women & don't belong in cis women spaces or sports.

The mentally ill need support.

couldn't cut it against his own sex so competes against women. Its a winner.

Yep. Separate transgender competitions need to be developed. Male /Female anatomies are completely different! Unfair advantages! 👥

Ricki needs to compete in men’s sport not women’s. Cheat.

What is a women?

M to F transition is ruining sports for our biological F. Stop fucking cheating

One of the worst articles I’ve read in awhile.

Since cis women have an physiological advantage over trans women, this shouldn’t be an issue worldwide.

Men compete with men. Women compete with women. Transgender compete with transgender. Its simple maths

You mean Sportsperson!!!!! Shame on you ABC!!!!!

Australia must ‘build first’ before opening the doors to more migration | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin says before Australia throws open the doors to migrants after the pandemic, there should be strong consideration on the “right values that we should all share” and the right facilities we all need.\n\n“With so much of normal life restricted, supposedly for our own good during the pandemic, thank God at least one part of government is still focussed on our freedoms,” Ms Credlin said.\n\nActing Immigration Minister Alan Tudge has just released a new version of the citizenship test designed to ensure new Australians understand and appreciate modern Australian values.\n\n“We can't be a cohesive community without adherence to the law, respect for our institutions, pride in our past, hope for our future, and affection and esteem for our fellow Australians,” Ms Credlin said.\n\n“The Australian experience is about people coming to a new land, wanting more freedom to live their lives, and being prepared to work hard to get ahead.\n\n“Especially now, with Melbourne surrounded by a 'ring of steel', in case someone tries to escape, it's timely we should remember that, and celebrate it”.\n\nHowever, Ms Credlin said the right economic considerations should be made, not just the “lazy economics” of higher immigration equals higher GDP growth.\n\n“Integrating migrants doesn't just mean inculcating the right values that we all should share; it also means building the right facilities that we all will need,” she said.\n\n“Before our population grows by another 15 per cent in a decade, we really should insist on building the water, power and transport infrastructure needed for everyone who's already here to keep their quality of life.\n\n“Build it first, then open the doors.”\n Oh fark off. In other words, let’s bring them in as long as they’re white anglos. Like drunk driving followed by rampant string pulling? Is that the sort of values we should all share? Ahh WhiteAustralia is that what you want DogBotherer

'Anything that says celebrity, I ain’t': Lunch with Hugo WeavingHe's one of Australia's most successful – and intimidating – actors, but Hugo Weaving says he's just a dag who likes to watch MasterChef. I remember watching him in 1984 in a stage production of A midsummer night's dream. He played Puck. He was brilliant and my 14 year old self was transfixed. Ever since then I've watched his career as an actor flourish. He deserves the accolades. No he isn't. He's a multimillionaire who gets paid to pretend to be someone else. sscooby0426 I love him for that attitude!💖 A brilliant actor who's not 'hollywoodised' 👌😍
