Premier DanielAndrewsMP has defended a plan to extend Victoria's State of Emergency powers that would not see them lifted until September 2021.

Premier Daniel Andrews has defended a plan to extend Victoria's State of Emergency powers that would not see them lifted until September 2021. Former state premier Jeff Kennett registered his anger with Mr Andrews labelling him a "megalomaniac". "The Premier said he might keep the state of emergency in place until we have a vaccine - we may never have a vaccine," he said.

" The opposition indicated it would not support the bill meaning the premier would need four Upper-House crossbenchers to back it when it was introduced in parliament next week. The powers would allow the Victoria government to extend a state of emergency in four-week blocks for up to 12 months as well as greater powers to enforce mandatory quarantine, COVID safe plans for businesses and mandatory mask-wearing.

DanielAndrewsMP Funny how Labor parties and fascism go hand in hand.

DanielAndrewsMP Can you say “Dan jumped the shark”?

DanielAndrewsMP The Dictator has spoken

DanielAndrewsMP These powers include enforcing positive people to isolate why the fuck would anyone not want that to happen 🤦‍♀️

DanielAndrewsMP Its his end game. He knows he's had it, and wants to leave the biggest mess possible for his successor. A kind of 'up yours' parting gift if you will.

DanielAndrewsMP This is not true. The Legislation is to provide the government with options at no stage was it suggested the State of Emergency would be extended by 12 months. It is required for authority to enforce health directives. No legal framework for quarantine masks etc = viral spread

DanielAndrewsMP What's the actual science behind what he is doing, people are locked in nursing homes, restricted and they are most at risk, he putting all Victorians in a nursing home, what if after a yr he needs another yr, this isn't normal. The WHO doesn't suggest lockdowns, why is dan?

DanielAndrewsMP This is how a democracy slips into a dictatorship;Andrews is not a benign politician who is primarily interested in welfare of his citizens;Andrews is an IDEOLOGUE who is only interested in furthering his political interests; His political interests lie in bringing Socialism here.

DanielAndrewsMP Don’t extend it.Knowing Victorians they’ll not forget this at the ballot boxes.Peoples’ mental health, education, businesses, jobs and overall economy are struggling. An extension would cause problems. But implementation and embedding of strong policies and strategies would help.

DanielAndrewsMP Wake up. It's an ambit claim. Dictator Dan knows he's not going to get 12 months. He wants block's of 3 and that's what he'll get. The X benches will tumble and think they've done a great job. Where in fact they would have given him what he wants. Dills.

Andrews turning neighbours against each other is the ‘hallmark of totalitarianism’ | Sky News AustraliaThe Victorian government misleading the public on the number of people disobeying stay-at-home orders is a clever, but “cynical and underhanded” strategy by Premier Daniel Andrews to turn people against each other, says Sky News host Rita Panahi.\n\nThe impetus for Victoria’s harsh lockdown and curfew on Wednesday was revealed as untrue, as Victoria Police said only 42 Victorians, not hundreds, had received fines for breaching COVID isolation laws.\n\nVictorian Police Deputy Commissioner Rick Nugent revealed only 42 Victorians have received fines for failing to isolate in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic.\n\nThe Victorian premier, on July 22 and July 30, stated hundreds of Victorians were refusing to isolate despite having COVID-19.\n\nWhen the premier introduced the harsh new lockdown measures in Victoria on August two, he said the impetus for the new laws was “too many (Victorians) not taking this seriously”.\n\nMs Panahi said it was extremely clever to “turn people against each other” as it meant people were blaming their neighbours rather than focusing on the government programs which led to the state’s COVID-19 debacle.\n\nFellow Sky News host James Morrow said this fell under the idea that people serve the government rather than the other way around.\n\n“Governments around this country, they’ve forgotten that they are there to serve us to make our lives better, to make our economy as strong as possible,” he said.\n\n“Isn’t this the hallmark of totalitarianism when you start turning neighbours against each other,” Sky News host Rowan Dean said.\n\nImage: Getty DanielAndrewsMP RitaPanahi RitaPanahi Rita who? Andrews wants to ‘remain as dictator Dan’ for another 12 months | Sky News AustraliaThe only thing Premier Daniel Andrews does not control in Victoria is the state’s upper house, which will be crucial in his pursuit to “remain as dictator Dan for at least another 12 months,” according to Sky News host Paul Murray.\n\nMr Andrews announced on Monday Victoria’s state of emergency will be extended for 12 months beyond the scheduled September 13 finish date. \n\nState of emergency powers allow the Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton to instruct his officials to detain people, search without warrants, and force lockdowns if it is considered a necessity in public health terms.\n\nHowever, the premier first needs to pass a bill to amend the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 in Victoria’s upper house where he needs 21 votes.\n\n“For this to be extended for another 12 months you need the upper house to approve it,” said Mr Murray.\n\nImage: Getty DanielAndrewsMP What happens in Victoria that the government is Labor and that is why he is politically attacked DanielAndrewsMP How good was Paul Murray's interview with Trump? Dan Andrew’s extension of the state of emergency is the act of a ‘megalomaniac’ | Sky News AustraliaFormer Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett has blasted Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews as a 'megalomaniac' for his draconian 12 month extension of the state's state of emergency.\n\nPremier Daniel Andrews has announced Victoria’s state of emergency will be extended for 12 months beyond the scheduled September 13 finish date. \n\nMr Andrews said a decision was yet to be made as to when the Victorian Parliament would sit to pass the bill but it would be made “available at the appropriate time”.\n\nMr Kennett said the premier’s suggestion to extend the state of emergency would disincentivise potential investors from investing in the state and would cause unemployment rates to surge. \n\n “If you’re going to invest millions of dollars, you won’t invest in a state where the premier is so terribly, terribly anti-business,” Mr Kennett said. \n\n “We have not been a state that has tried to live with and manage this virus, we’ve been a state that has imposed restrictions on people to the extent that individual freedoms are out the wall.\n\n“Instead of offering us hope, he’s saying we’re going to extend this state of emergency another twelve months.\n\n“It can’t happen, because if it does happen, there will be no Victoria as we know it today.\n\n“This premier is driving us, and our economy, into the ground. Are we all going to be locked up at the whim of the premier with no check and balances.\n\n“This is an act of a megalomaniac.”\n\nImage: Getty\n jeff_kennett Just lock Dan in the press conference room with Magda for 18 months and tell them the cameras are live.
