The Assyrian bishop allegedly stabbed in a terrorist attack at a western Sydney church has returned to work with blindness in his right eye.
“I ask the Lord Jesus Christ to accept this eye as a token of love and sacrifice,” Bishop Emmanuel said in Arabic.The 52-year-old said he offered his eye as a sacrifice and a gesture of love towards Muslims.Police have stated in court documents the 16-year-old alleged terrorist said during the assault, “He p****d me off, every single video is about my Prophet… If he just spoke about his religion, I wouldn’t have come”.
Another priest hospitalised in the same attack, Father Isaac Royel, also returned to the church on Sunday for early morning mass.
