Retaining seats in WA is a crucial part of federal Labor’s re-election strategy.

Had he not been confined to home isolation in Kirribilli House, the prime minister would have finished the week with a ministerial meeting in Perth, in what would have been his 10th visit to Western Australia since the federal election six months ago.Nine News Perththat the government pursue a standalone policy to retain the seats it won in the traditionally conservative state on May 21.

At the May 21 election, Labor won four seats from the Liberals in WA, a state that has overwhelmingly voted conservative at a federal level for the past 20 years. But the review says it was due to three “unique” reasons, none of which can be counted on next time, and none of which were directly attributable to Mr Albanese or federal Labor.

It’s tight, but Labor finally retains Northcote - by just 184 votesBreaking: Labor has retained the seat of Northcote in Melbourne’s inner-north by less than 200 votes after the distribution of preferences, in a hard fought campaign against the Greens | vicvotes Northcote Looking on target for 55 seats - no change. What a slap in the face for the coalition - if it wasn’t for the Nats, the liberal party would almost cease to exist 😂😂 Traditionally labour but all the yuppies live there now so no surprise it’s close and I’m surprised greens didn’t win as traditional Labor voters are dying literally ageing and dying in that area. Put that one down as Greens in next election. Liberals work out your strategies. So after conceding then revoking their concession I assume the Greens candidate has conceded a second time
