Breaking: Labor has retained the seat of Northcote in Melbourne’s inner-north by less than 200 votes after the distribution of preferences, in a hard fought campaign against the Greens | vicvotes Northcote

Labor has retained the seat of Northcote in Melbourne’s inner-north by less than 200 votes after the distribution of preferences, in a hard fought campaign against the Greens that takes the Andrews government closer to the high watermark of 55 seats won in the 2018 “Danslide”.

Kat Theophanous held the seat with a 0.22 per cent margin, 184 votes more than Greens candidate Campbell Gome on a two-party preferred basis, following a calculation by the Victorian Electoral Commission on Tuesday afternoon. Greens candidate for Northcote Campbell Gome still trails ALP incumbent Kat Theophanous, but the gap is narrowing. The results tightened dramatically after absentee votes were added to the tally in the days after Gome conceded last Thursday.“My concession still stands,” he wrote on Twitter on Tuesday, prior to the final calculation.Theophanous, who survived a 1.

Nathan Lambert is expected to retain the northern suburbs seat for Labor, which would take the Andrews government to 54 out of 88 lower house seats, despite a 19 per cent swing towards independent Gaetano Greco who campaigned on the future of the Preston Market. The Morning Edition newsletter is our guide to the day’s most important and interesting stories, analysis and insights.

Dan Andrews visit was worthwhile seeing him in the flesh knowing he was real not a imposter like Matthew Guy. Well done Labor

Both are rubbish! Greens just want to mask people in the parks and Kat is nothing more then a wall flower. Guess now it's a marginal seat. Watch the wasted money flow

A win is a win, Congratulations From my 40 year plus experience a count that falls within 150 votes is hard to change. electionsvic need to ensure that the election count process is open ad transparent. This is not the case in the upper-house count.

Congratulations to Kat Theophanous! 🙂

The Greens got 30% primary vote. That should never get someone elected

Traditionally labour but all the yuppies live there now so no surprise it’s close and I’m surprised greens didn’t win as traditional Labor voters are dying literally ageing and dying in that area. Put that one down as Greens in next election. Liberals work out your strategies.

So after conceding then revoking their concession I assume the Greens candidate has conceded a second time

Looking on target for 55 seats - no change. What a slap in the face for the coalition - if it wasn’t for the Nats, the liberal party would almost cease to exist 😂😂

Labor have ‘no plan’ to deal with rising energy pricesNationals Senator Bridget McKenzie says there is a difference between what families and small businesses are feeling “on the ground” compared to how the Labor party is acting. “They don’t have a smile on their face as they head into Christmas with energy prices soaring, inflation going through the roof and the RBA’s rate rises also significantly impacting everyone’s mortgage repayments,” Ms McKenzie said. “That’s only going to get tougher. “We’re doing our bit, but unfortunately, and we’ve seen after seven months, these guys still have no plan to deal with rising energy prices despite knowing it was an issue going into the election.” That’s how communism works. We just want When is she going to jail?
