A rolling school-based vaccination program will begin in Term 4, making it easier for WA students and staff to get a COVID-19 jab.

"Parental consent will be required for students participating in this, as it is for the long standing vaccination program in schools for a range of diseases," Ms Ellery said.

"We're going to work our way through, build ourselves up, manage the supply issues as well with the vaccine," Ms Ellery said. "That's why we're doing this in a staged exercise to make sure we've got the capacity to do it properly," Ms Ellery said."We know they've got a limited amount of time left at school and of course the 17-year-olds and some 16-years-olds are facing their exams so we want to make sure they are vaccinated as quickly as possible," she said.

WA Police Commissioner and Vaccine Commander Chris Dawson still encouraged families to make a vaccine booking but said the walk-in appointments would be suitable and easier for some.
