SA Premier Steven Marshall's decision to reopen borders to the eastern states once vaccination targets are reached could see the state's western border slammed shut, WA Premier Mark McGowan warns.

As South Australia looks towards reopening to the eastern states at the end of the year, the decision could see its border close in the west.WA Premier Mark McGowan says SA "may regret" opening its borders if it results in community transmission

"Obviously if South Australia then has community spread of the virus, they may regret that decision," he said. "We have got quite a porous border, a highly populated border with Victoria and New South Wales, so it is a different situation," he said."There's not a lot of people living along the South Australian-Western Australian-Northern Territory border and so he [Mr McGowan] has got that high level of protection.

"We've actually had the lowest number of days lost [to lockdown] of anywhere in the country so I'm just going to continue to back the methodology that we've put in place since day one.South Australia opened up COVID-19 vaccination to anyone aged 12 and over this week.

The SA premier should be careful you can't compare it's health system with that of nsw or Vic

From reading the comments it seems people don't want the borders opened. Marshall is being cautious and knows that SA has to open its borders at some point. Come on everyone get bloody vaccinated. Get your brain into gear about learning to live with this virus.

Whatever helps you sleep at night champ.

Whatever help you sleep at night.

Every article about WA borders triggers a horde of those xenophobic shut-ins we have here in WA, sigh…

The purpose of abc is to cause conflict, obviously he succeeded.

Ignore Marshall and his LNP mates Look what as happened in NSW

Yet we are going to be hosting the afl final. Doesnt make any sense and anyone believing there won't be someone slips through the net has rocks in their head

Marshall should sit in the corner and be quite .

Can't help thinking that McGowan's emphatic insistence at keeping WA border closed is influenced by the fact that the WA health system is at breaking point, with 100% hospital bed occupancy (desirable ~85%). And WA is COVID-free!!🤔🤔

WA is looking good.

Hah. Yes, it is a very isolated situation. A strong Labor leader in a trad'ly Lib state, who is doing what his state wants and doesn't have to cave to Fed Lib pressure, as Marshall does. 67% of us want the borders closed we're at 90% - ie: a REAL 80% (tot pop).

our premier is money hungry, bcause has wasted so much $$ on his mates on highways & hotels neither of which is giving him a return for taxpayer money so he has 2 put us all risk to cash grab anyway he can & not think of consequences, he thinks scomo will support him 😂🤣

When you breathing your last gasp, waiting for an ambulance just think of Marshall opening up the state.

If WA wants to be lock in than can

Good on you Marshall. Forget about Mark with his isolation minds.

Why are there leaders who think more with political emotion than with reason? WA leader is one of them.

SA Parliament shenanigans…”Ms Franks also alleged an unnamed Liberal staffer 'urinated in a corner of an MP's office before turning around with his penis still exposed, waving his appendage into the breeze with his arms in the air, calling out, 'Touch it, touch it.'' ABC

Watch SA Gov. get flooded with Pfizer to raise those SA %%%% to put pressure on McGowan. Insidious the Federal Government are using vaccines as political weapons. Bunch of LNP parasites

Vaccine passports could be mandatory to attend WA events or hop on a flight by year's endWest Australians could need vaccine passports to go to football matches, concerts and fly interstate and overseas by late this year, WA Premier Mark McGowan says. They can't be because mandating vaccine is illegal to start with. Lot of voters and people on twitter at least seem to think the sun shines out of his botty hole. Once vax rates are high I just can't see a justification for government surveillance and privacy erosion. Flight to where

‘Regret that’: McGowan’s threat to stateWestern Australian may shut-out one of its neighbouring states after it announced its plans to open up to other jurisdictions with high Covid-19 cases. Only reason they don't have covid in WA is because even a parasitic disease doesn't want to go to WA. And I thought Dan Andrew’s loved a power trip. Wow. SA... who's WA?
