New Zealand authorities are now asking what they could have done differently in the lead up to the Christchurch mosque attacks nytimes

“The purpose of this inquiry is to look at what all relevant agencies knew — or could or should have known — about the individual and his activities, including his access to weapons,” she said at a news conference in Wellington, the capital. She also said her cabinet had agreed “in principle” to an overhaul of the country’s gun laws and was working out the details.

Police investigations continued, as counterterrorism officers in Australia searched the homes of Mr. Tarrant’s mother and sister in the northeastern coastal towns of Lawrence and Sandy Beach. Few details have emerged about Mr. Tarrant’s life. It is unclear whether he had a job. Several neighbours said they did not know many of their neighbours and had not met Mr. Tarrant.

“They wore cammo around the range, like they were living some military base fantasy,” Mr. Breidahl said in an interview on Monday.NYT Darren Jacobs, chief executive of Hunting & Fishing New Zealand, confirmed on Monday that the retailer’s Dunedin branch had sold Mr. Tarrant a bolt-action hunting rifle in 2017.

Of course. FalseFlag They've already got some of the tightest gun laws in the region. Tighter laws wouldn't have prevented the current tragedy, and won't prevent future events. Why do we engage in this pointless charade every time? We seem to have a few issues here!! How about keeping the eye on the ball abcnews

New Zealand's Ardern vows gun law reform after Christchurch terror attackNew Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has vowed to change the nation's gun laws after confirming the 'primary perpetrator' in Christchurch's terror attack used five weapons. So many words..... as any pollie uses too placate. actions, not words, are more reassuring Criminals will always get guns. This should NOT be an opportunity for Marxists to further deny the rights of sensible, law-abiding people. We need LESS government in our lives. Here we go again. In the panty-pissing frenzy to appear to be doing something, the Left wants to limit the freedoms of the innocent. She is too dumb to see that it will foster resentment, quickly turning to hate. This is like limiting car ownership after a hit-and-run.
