The Australian Federal Police says it has finished its investigation into payments made from the Vatican to Australia and has not found any criminal misconduct. It found no evidence of criminal misconduct in these payments

Police initially reported more than $2b had been transferred, but that figure was later revised down to less than $10 million AUSTRAC, which investigates criminal abuse in financial systems in Australia, had earlier reported $2.3 billion had been transferred to Australia from the Vatican between 2014 and 2020.Those figures were contested at the time by the Vatican, which said it sounded like "science fiction" because the Holy's Sees annual budget was about 330 million euros.in a joint Vatican-Australia review, which found only $9.5 million had been sent from the Vatican to Australia between 2014 and 2020.

It found there had been 362 transfers of money, which the Vatican said was mainly to meet "contractual obligations" as well as "ordinary management". After the transfer figures had been revised down, Cardinal George Pell, who had been the Vatican's treasurer, told Reuters: "I was relieved to hear that billions were not laundered through the Vatican while I was head of the Secretariat for the Economy."George Pell's sexual abuse convictions were overturned on appeal by the High Court of Australia and he was released from prison in April.

AFP letter to PM warns delay in MPs reporting crimes could lead to reoffendingThe Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commissioner writes to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, warning about delays in politicians reporting criminal conduct. no shit AFP!! The alleged offender is still out there roaming free in the community - it's been 2 years. Well, at least one MP knew of a rape, they didn't report it and the same guy committed three more rapes, so yeah, not reporting them is a free pass to the rapists should have sent the letter to Jen so she can explain it to him.
