Exclusive: One of Scott Morrison’s closest political allies has launched an extraordinary broadside against the former prime minister, accusing him of becoming addicted to power

that Hawke is one of several colleagues who believe Morrison treated people badly after his 2019 victory.Hawke despaired that Morrison “didn’t really take advice from people” and said: “He wasn’t the greatest listener.”

Savva writes that Hawke believed “Morrison should have quit parliament almost immediately after the election, rather than stay and risk becoming bitter and twisted”.Hawke said he advised Morrison not to choose Katherine Deves as the Liberal candidate for Warringah, but the former prime minister was determined to select her.

“And that had [the] real consequence of acting to undermine public confidence in government and were corrosive of trust in government.” Hawke told Savva he believed Morrison would “probably” have won another term if he had called an early election in 2021 rather than wait until May this year. This would have allowed Morrison to face voters before anger erupted at a shortage of rapid antigen tests and the “teal” candidates consolidated their appeal in inner-city Sydney and Melbourne.“The rule is, go when you think you can win.”

This is just coming across as political vindictiveness. Did M actually use the powers or profit politically or financially? If not just let it go,

Morrison has said we don't know what it was like (the pandemic) the actions of the Govt of the time shows they simply were not up to it and were incapable of effective mgt and planning.

In the real world its what we call 'stating the bloody obvious' You political Journo's do miss the opportunities don't you.. I think that is called 'pack mentality', or in other words 'unable to think for yourselves!'

looking like a friend was OK until their job description changed.............time to end the discussion or do it on their own time

Why did your newspaper continue to promote & protect Scott Morrison? You have a responsibility to answer this question to your dwindling number of subscribers.

Is Phil Coorey launching broadsides now?

Pentacostal nutter accuses fellow Pentacostal nutter of being self-obsessed and delusional!

Its called megalomania Its incurable

Operation Only Morrison Was Bad is in full swing It's laughable that the entire cabinet weren't part of his gutter politics. Every last one of them was an active part of it. And . Alex Hawke trying to distance himself now is the funniest joke of 2022. Reap what you sow.

Scott Morrison facing censure push by MPsFormer prime minister Scott Morrison is likely to be censured by parliament after a scathing inquiry into the secret ministries saga. They should be able to expel him from Parliament and cancel his life long PM's pension that he can get while still working full time..... Condemning the behaviour via censure is a slap on the wrist...nothing more...nothing less. For the welfare of the Australian people? Right. 😆
