While Australia has performed relatively well in its response to the COVID-19 epidemic overall, there’s no doubt we have failed older Australians.

Peter Rozen QC, counsel assisting the royal commission into aged care, highlighted these dreadful numbers on Monday, Mr Rozen said the system itself wasn’t failing; it was “running as planned”. His words add weight to the case for long-term reform. Yet governments, and here the primary responsibility lies at the federal level, have been complacent. The commission heard that Health Minister Greg Hunt said on June 29, after the start of the Melbourne outbreak, that the sector was “very well prepared”. With hindsight, it’s patently obvious that this was not the case.

That's a bit harsh. Most other countries have done no better and a few much worse. But it's true, a civil society is one that is compassionate towards its elderly.

People deserved the truth

To fix it, make Hydroxychloroquine available to our vulnerable people and health care professionals.

Yeah locking up the family of old people to stop them from getting visits was a poor choice

Thanks to the LNP!!

give the elderly access to quality Vitamin D3 and liposomal Vitamin C. ✅

The government lives with mental illness and implements mental illness so to have effect bring down the government In all likelihood the pozzed psychologists the Andrews government rolls out will further damage the mental health of anyone that sees them. I'm sure this was entirely altruistic and had no political ass covering motive at all involving suicide rates going through the roof as a result of Vic lockdown rules... It's okay if thousands kill themselves, as long as we don't let the virus win! Right?
