The competition regulator is seeking assurances that Palisade, Spirit Super and Commonwealth Superannuation Scheme’s $1.2 billion bid to buy GeelongPort won’t stifle competition, given Palisade also owns the Port of Portland.

And it singled out Port of Portland in its list of things that it’s seeking stakeholder feedback on.

Naturally ACCC is keen on knowing if the deal would affect service prices, service levels or stevedore services. And if common ownership between the bulk commodity ports would remove incentives to invest in port infrastructure and attract new customers.
