Australia's competition watchdog has approved a $469 million takeover of agricultural merchandiser Ruralco by the global agribusiness Nutrien, on condition that Nutrien sells three of its rural stores.

Competition concerns for markets in Broome in Western Australia, Alice Springs in the Northern Territory and Hughenden in Queensland were addressed by a commitment from Nutrien to sell its stores in those locations, he added.
