"I'm 80 years of age, and this is the first time I've seen this, and so I'll be looking forward to more joining up in the system." Chief Justice Chris Kourakis said a court that reflected its community was better placed to serve the community. Headless white men

yeah that worked well last time ... Pat ...

Reduce incarnation, increase domestic violence and other criminal activity

🤣🤣🤣

Time is immaterial, as is race. Utterly irrelevant. The only relevant factors are whether the individual in question is qualified for the post, and was appointed on merit. If those factors are at play - congratulations! But given the ABC is gushing over race...

…many magistrates wouldn’t even know their ancestry…Give us a break.

awesome

This lady looks decent to me. I hope that she upholds and applies the law honourably unlike the notorious magistrate Pat O'Shane

ABC reporting news or commentating ? As a supposedly neutral news source they sure do have a lot of opinions these days.

So is Lidia Thorpe's war over Peace talks

Why is it about time?

If they were appointed on Merit, then congratulations.

Sounds as though she doesn't feel Aboriginal people should be incarcerated for criminal acts. Another disaster coming for the woke.

Why is it about time? Being Indigenous instantly gets you a magistrates gig? How absurd are you leftists?

Whose legal system will she be dispensing? If aboriginal you know it has corporal, capaital and pyschological punishment still as a sentence.

The wonders of the colonial education system. You can go anywhere with it.

Does she have a law degree?

Cultural appropriation .

Along with the new $5 note, this shows that the indigenous already have a 'Voice'... VoteNo

Merit need not apply.

Is this a diversity hire. Or is merit the reason for the appointment. You never know in this Woke Wacky World.

About time? Do you mean… 1) Finally an indigenous person with merit or 2) Finally an indigenous person with merit was not appointed due to their race? I strongly point out I assume this appointment was on merit not on racial criteria but if you can explain why about time pls

The Voice is fundamentally ‘about two things’: Linda BurneyMinister for Indigenous Australians Linda Burney says the Voice to Parliament is about ensuring. Indigenous people have a say on parliamentary issues and receive recognition within the constitution. “It’s really about two things; it’s about making sure that aboriginal people have a say on issues that affect aboriginal people within the parliament by way of legislation,” Ms Burney told Sky News Australia. “The other really important thing is recognition that finally our constitution will recognise that we all share a continent with the oldest living continuous civilisation on the planet.” “Fundamentally, that is what the Voice is about.” Hahaha Gee someone's made Linda get off her arse. Shhh..she might even mention Alice, I won't hold my breath! NATO chief asks South Korea to up military support in UkraineNATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday urged South Korea to “step up” military support as well as to reconsider its policy of not exporting weapons to countries in conflict. During the two-day visit to Seoul, he thanked South Korean leaders for providing $100 million in non-lethal aid to Ukraine but urged Seoul to do more to help Kyiv, saying there was an “urgent need for more ammunition”. Well this is how it begins when it comes to NATO membership. Comply or else despite reservations of History to be forced into the beginning of a world war.
