One of the world's first human trials of a vaccine for coronavirus is underway in Australia as healthy volunteers put themselves forward.

Earlier this year, when authorities were bracing for the worst-case scenario of the coronavirus pandemic in Australia, Perth-based data analyst Rachelle Kalic was crunching the numbers.

After hearing about a call out for volunteers for one of the world's first human trials of a vaccine for COVID-19, Ms Kalic put her hand up. Inside the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research building, the Linear screening team take blood samples, check BMIs and the volunteers' medical history.Linear chief executive Jayden Rogers says the COVID-19 vaccine trial is a major coup for Western Australia.

The vaccine candidate being trialled by Linear is called SCB-2019 and was developed by Chinese company Clover Biopharmaceuticals.

Be interesting story for the ABC to report on various Australian vaccines. There are at least 2, Pharmaust Ltd at Royal Melbourne & Vacine Ltd at Royal Adelaide. Pretty sure there is another in QLD & probably CSIRO as well.

Trials in Australia is a virtue signal and will never be allowed to be the selected go to vaccine. Moderna has that all wrapped up.
