Matjila declined to name that politician. However, following a request from Business Day to have the name disclosed, PIC inquiry evidence leader Jannie Lubbe told the commission“I was asked if I could contact some of the people that had been funded by the PIC to contribute towards the ANC’s 2016 January 8 statement [event],” Matjila told an inquiry into the PIC on Wednesday.

The January 8 statement is has a prominent feature of the ANC's calendar and is accompanied by a range of events around the country.Matjila says he agreed to facilitate the request by contacting businesspeople that had received funding from the PIC. This included Sipho Mseleku from the Sakhumnotho Group, Lawrence Mulaudzi from Kilimanjaro Capital and Siyanda Resources chair Lindani Mthwa.

“Why would you pass on such a request? This would create the impression that you can’t get on the wrong side of Dr Matjila. This is a very compromising role as CEO of the PIC, why did you pass this on?” asked Marcus.

Speakers agreed that the department is spending too much on employee compensation, and lacks funds and a clear mandate. EFF women don't have names huh? that you mention all others with names but choose referring to them as just EFF Department of Men lacks funds and a clear mandate too. It also lacks commissioning. Perfectly understandable. It’s led by a woman with a hole in her head. And prior to that it was led by Bathabile. Nuff said
